Please can you tell me if the sycalmin plant can be put in a hanging basket, and if it needs to be in or out of the sun :?: thank you

Hi

There are many species and cultivars of Cyclamen, some are hardy and others are only suitable for indoor cultivation. They all like some sunlight but not bright, direct sunlight.

I would suggest some of the hardier species could be used in winter or spring hanging baskets e.g. C.coum or C.hederifolium but on the whole they would not be suitable for summer hanging baskets because they prefer cooler conditions and the heat of our current summers would be too much for them.

Also most of the cultiavated varieties flower in spring so you would struggle to find a summer flowering specimen.
