Japanese Umbrella Pine

Postby LWing » 13 Jun 2011 21:53

Hello,

I planted a Japanese Umbrella Pine in my gargen about 6 weeks ago and it seemed to be quite happy but over the last few days it looks very poorly and is really drooping...

Can anyone help as I absolutely love this plant

Thanks

Hello,

What is the soil like that you have planted the tree in? Ideally it needs to be moist but well drained, I'm assuming you have watered it enough but not too much and it's not heavy clay soil or shallow chalk?

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. I believe our soil is quite neutral pH and is quite sandy.

I may have been guilty of over watering in the dry spell but now with all the rain have tried to leave the watering but it still looks very poorly.

Do you think it would be easier to control the watering / drainage if I replanted it in a container or would that be too traumatic for it in this fragile state?

Thanks

Liz
