There are over 30,000 different cultivars of the Day Lily. These perennials can be herbaceous, semi-evergreen, or evergreen.
Hemerocallis form clumps of long, light-mid green strap-shaped leaves. The trumpet-shaped flowers are produced over a long period throughout summer. Many flower colours are available.
The common name ‘Day Lily’ relates to the flowers; each one only lasts for one day but so many are produced that you hardly notice that each one is so short-lived. A good plant to choose for a heavy clay soil.
